We got the opportunity to shoot with Charon on our quick trip to New York!We shot at Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island!
Tell us the story about when your passion for modeling first
What got me into modeling was the willingness to express myself and create an image that mass media wasn’t showing. I’ve always been able to see a connection between Acting and Still Photography. Then a photographer once told me that he likes to capture the “essence of a model” and I get it: It’s almost as if you took some shots of a silent film.
Photographers who came to take pictures of shows I did would often ask me if I was interested in doing a photoshoot. Later on I started working with Hair and Make Up Artists, Fashion Designers and Photographers who had concepts for their own Photo Exhibits.
I have always been conscious of my body, especially growing up in this industry. I really wanted to make a difference and show the beauty beside the stereotypes we often see on Mass Media. I wanted to show that everyone is beautiful, that nobody’s really perfect and that you can still love yourself.
What has been your favorite moment of modeling?
Oh, god! Have so many good moments! If I had to pick one, I would say working with “BetsyElisa Beauty” is definitely something I will always remember.
We worked on this Hair and Make Up Style that was perfect for a Red Carpet. I said to Betsy that there was no way she could use my curls and make me look elegant.
Most of the times curly-haired ladies are forced to believe that for important occasions you should straighten your hair otherwise it won’t look classy. They pulled out this incredible look on me that was so elegant and definitely would have rocked on a Red Carpet.
I come from a small town where no one really has my type of hair and always felt like I did not belong. NYC has changed me a lot physically and mentally.
People have different looks, speak different languages, eat different foods and I can just be myself without feeling an alien.
I wouldn’t really say “this is where I belong” yet, but the city has certainly taught me to love my self for who I am. I can finally show my true colors.
Any other fun fact you’d like to add about yourself?
I have acted in four different languages and am currently writing my third play.
How was collabing with the Never Seek Approval team?
I really stand for the ideals to which the company is based on. I was always one of those kids who would watch documentaries and be passionate about our planet and its wildlife. I am very mindful of where I shop and I truly believe we can make a difference.
I love how the apparel is made 100% with organic cotton and recycled textiles. This company is really up to something good!
Also I loved working with the whole team: a bunch of great kind-hearted people.
Shop Never Seek Approval and help making the difference. Help our planet!
